Heaven and Righteousness
Wow! This blog is already accomplishing what I wanted...accountability. I have so much to accomplish today BUT time with God must come first. Thank you SO much for studying with me. I learned today...Day 2 of Week 1...that Jesus had much to say about HEAVEN, His Home. I have thought much about heaven since both my parents call it home now. What are they doing? How do I know I will see them again? The verses I found say that Heaven belongs to those who need Jesus (NLT - Matthew 5:3). Well, I would definitely say I qualify! What did you learn today? Love to each of you!

Two items stuck out at me while I was looking for references to "heaven" and "righteousness". While I didn't find all references the author stated, I found what I was looking for and needed nonetheless. The first was "your eye is the lamp to your body." It tells me to keep my eye (my focus) on what brings in the good light for my body, mind and spirit. If I were to look on things that are not on that path, then my body, mind and spirit are filled with darkness. Ain't that the truth! I like imagery and the image that I must keep my eyes and my focus on those things that bring the Light into my life is such a simple way to summarize the infinite details it'll take to make that happen.
ReplyDeleteThe other was the reference to the narrow gate. it reminds me of the Robert Frost poem "The Road Less Travelled." He states at the end that he took the road less travelled and that taking that road has made all the difference. Amen! Looking for the narrow gate, the righteous gate, the gate that many pass by on their rush to the large, ornate and false gate, will make all the difference. Looking for the patient answer to an annoying question, or for more time to do this devotion or help our children with their school rather than ship them off to be someone else's student, as well as a multitude of other ways to look for the narrow gate will make all the difference to get to the Kingdom of Heaven.
It took me some time to find all the references, but it was good to reread it over and over. Giving it time to sink into my thick skull! I love how easy this study is to fit into my life. I take it in the car and do it while waiting on the girls at activities! Diane Stevens
